Super Lawyers uses a patented multiphase selection process to identify exceptional attorneys. The process incorporates peer nominations, peer evaluations and independent research. Ultimately, no more than 5% of attorneys in Maryland are selected as Super Lawyers each year.

The Rising Stars selection process mirrors Super Lawyers, with the added eligibility requirement of being 40 or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. While up to 5% of attorneys in the state are named Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5% make the Rising Stars list.
