Build a Practice. Try Cases. Make an Impact.

We are a more than 40-year-old commercial law firm with deep roots in the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. legal community – and we are growing. Our Litigation Division handles complex, high-stake commercial disputes, real property and construction claims, complex fiduciary and shareholder disputes, and estates and trusts controversies. We are looking for a litigation associate who is ready to step into meaningful responsibility, work directly with clients and partners, and develop into a quality first-chair trial lawyer.

This is not a document review role. From day one, you will be in the courtroom, in the conference room, and at the negotiating table.

What You Will Do

  • Handle litigations in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. state and federal courts across all phases – pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, depositions, and trial
  • Draft and argue motions, briefs, and legal memoranda on complex factual and legal issues
  • Manage your own docket with real autonomy, while collaborating closely with partners on strategy and client relationships
  • Take an active role in depositions, ADR proceedings, settlement negotiations, and court conferences
  • Communicate directly and substantively with clients – building relationships, not just processing files
  • Contribute to trial preparation and take on trial responsibilities commensurate with your experience

What We Are Looking For

  • 5–7 years of substantive litigation experience (we will consider strong candidates slightly outside this range)
  • Active bar membership in Maryland, Virginia, or D.C. – multiple admissions are a plus, not a prerequisite
  • Demonstrated experience with motions practice, depositions, and courtroom appearances
  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills
  • A self-starter who can manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail
  • Experience in any of our core practice areas: commercial litigation, real property, construction, or estates and trusts

Preferred but not required:

  • Trial experience or meaningful first-chair support
  • Familiarity with construction claims, property disputes, or probate/trust litigation
  • Experience interacting with clients independently

If you do not check every box but believe you are the right fit for this role, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with performance-based bonuses
  • 401(k) with profit-sharing
  • Comprehensive benefits – medical, dental, and vision
  • Early responsibility – real courtroom work, real client contact, real case ownership
  • Mentorship and a clear path forward in a firm that promotes from within and is actively expanding its litigation practice
  • A collegial, team-oriented culture at a firm that has been a trusted institution in this region for more than four decades

About Our Firm

We are a full-service commercial law firm serving businesses, entrepreneurs, real estate investors, and high-net-worth individuals. With approximately 25 attorneys across multiple practice areas – and growth targets that will take us to 35–40 attorneys in the coming years – this is an opportunity to join a firm on the rise while benefiting from the stability and reputation of a decades-long institution.
